Has society today has lost all concept of respect and gratitude. I was completely disgusted today as I made a deliver to a large grocery warehouse. Today being rememberance day you think people would have to common courtesy to take the moment at 11:00 to stop working or doing whatever they are doing and pause to remember the sacrifice that was made by so many men and women for our freedom. In this particular warehouse they had many radio's located all over the place, tuned to the same station. When the station requested a moment of silence only 3 out of the 25-30 people in my view actually stopped. I was even more disgusted when a manager walked over to one of those 3 employees and told him to get back to work, and stop standing around. Is this what our society has come to, that no longer can we take a 1 or 2 minute break from our day to reflect on, and be grateful for those who went through so much for us. You would think that a warehouse like that with more 200 employees in the building would make an announcement and ask the employees to pause. It us unthinkable that there is so litte respect in our society......

Wow. I'm not really sure what to say to that ... besides the fact that I am incredibly apalled at the ignorance and apathy. I must admit, half of that appalling feeling is directed at myself. I did not even think* of taking a moment of silence at 11 at that time - I just didn't think. I am now.

or maybe people feel the need to take a moment of silence at a different time of the day when they would be free of distractions. igmorance goes both ways in this case.

Tim, this is Sarah Baldwin...that crazy girl that you tried to set up with John once. Anyway, when I moved to Ontario I was apalled that Remembrance Day isn't a stat holiday in your province. In BC it's a disgrace to even be open at 11:00 (the moment of silence) on that day. Businesses that ARE open could face boycotts.
